I love the G-Star denim in this photograph. Super skinny. But totally worth the snug fit.

I adored Sally’s dress in the latest episode of Mad Men. That show captures 60’s essence entirely. But this last shot is depressing though…

Top 5 Songs {4/30/12} Featuring Lana Del Rey, Birdy & Hoodie Allen

Top Five songs of the week (All Including a much needed edge):

1~ “Trouble Town” by Jake Bugg: A Logan Lerman English look-a-like with a hometown sound a la Johnny Cash and some western twang, Jake Bugg grabs the bull by the horns with his single “Trouble Town”. And succeeds. It’s not only his good looks, but the authentic and raw sound of his music that makes me want to pick up a guitar and join him in this song. It’s the fact that you know that he sings what he believes and that his sound is his own that proves he owns the fuck out of this track.

2~ “National Anthem” by Lana Del Rey: ”Money is the anthem of success”, are the promising opening words of Lana Del Rey’s pop/lovesick song “National Anthem”, words of which hooked me from the beginning. I am absolutely in love with everything about Del Rey. Her hair, her lips, her swag. They’re all addicting and this track from her debut album Born to Die is no exception. It’s catchy and can cause any girl to feel as if Del Rey’s allure is contagious

3~ “Eighteen Cool” by Hoodie Allen: There are only so many white rappers I know of and only one that I can actually stand. That one being the way too attractive Hoodie Allen. “Eighteen Cool”, from his newest album All American captures the essence of looking back on your teenage years and knowing that you’ve changed. It’s extremely danceable and all the more addicting. It doesn’t hurt that the track’s cover art is an image of Allen himself, easy on the eyes

4~ “Young Blood” by Birdy: It goes without saying that anything Birdy, aka Jasmine van den Bogaerde, records is pure gold. She can transform an upbeat popsong to a nostalgic melody, as she did with The Naked & Famous’s summer anthem “Young Blood” from her self titled album (of which is all amazingly beautiful covers). Her voice is angelic as it transforms this track into something graceful and yet still turning out a pop beat that every music lover will enjoy.

5~ “New York City” by Punch Brothers: I’m a bit late on the whole Punch Brothers scene, but I absolutely fell in love with them once I heard their track “Dark Days” on the various Hunger Games Soundtrack and soon followed up with the purchase of their song about a love sick city wonderer. “New York City/Will you give her to me/I’d be yours forever”. But is it a girl or the city with which the singer is doomed in love for?

Go for gold and listen to these songs. You’ll be glad you did!
